MSSC Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) 4.0

The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) CLA and CLT certification training program is designed to prepare individuals for an entry-level career in the logistics field. These entry-level jobs should be viewed as a stepping stone not an end point. The jobs are typically found in companies that have implemented teams, supply-chain logistics, and quality measures.

The CLA and CLT program is an instructor-led course that includes eLearning courses (homework) accessible 24/7. The class is presented online, which allows for more flexible scheduling and eliminates child care and transportation issues. The course consists of two parts:

  1. The foundational-level CLA training and certificate
  2. The mid-level technical CLT certification. Before sitting for the CLT assessment, candidates must have a CLA certificate.

The goal of the program is to raise the level of performance of logistics workers to assist them in finding
higher-wage jobs and to help employers ensure their workforce increases the company’s productivity and
competitiveness.

Industry 4.0

Based on extensive research with leading industry subject matter experts, MSSC has selected a list of nine rapidly emerging, data-intensive, “Industry 4.0” technologies that will profoundly influence manufacturing production processes and quality control. MSSC has embedded these technologies in its 2022 “Industry 4.0” Edition of its National Logistics Standards. These technologies include:

  • 5G
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT)
  • Biometrics
  • Autonomous Robots
  • Augmented Reality
  • Data Analytics
  • Nanomanufacturing
  • Remote Learning

As of 2022, these Industry 4.0 technologies are fully integrated into the CLT program.  MSSC logistics certificates and certifications issued will be re-labelled “CLT 4.0.” MSSC’s goal is to provide CLT 4.0 technicians with a foundational understanding of these technologies on which to build as their companies use them in various ways on the warehouse floor.
